Service Level Agreement & Terms
The bit nobody reads, which works out well for everyone.
By using Best Effort Hosting, you agree to the following terms. If you disagree with them,
you're welcome to feel that way; it won't change anything below.
Uptime is a target, not a promise. We aim for the servers to be on. When they
are not on, we consider that a temporary state rather than an incident.
No credits, refunds, or apologies are issued for downtime under, over, or
around any particular percentage.
Backups may exist. Their existence is not guaranteed, their recency is not
guaranteed, and their restorability is not guaranteed. We recommend keeping
your own copies of anything you'd miss.
We will respond to support requests within a timeframe best described as
"eventually". Urgency stated in your ticket subject line (e.g. "URGENT",
"SITE DOWN", multiple exclamation marks) does not alter this timeframe.
We are fairly confident this falls before the heat death of the
universe, though we are not currently prepared to put that in writing
as a guarantee.
We apply security updates when we get round to it. "Round to it" is not a
defined interval. You are welcome to remind us; reminders do not change
the interval.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, and then a bit further just in case,
Best Effort Hosting is not liable for data loss, downtime, lost business,
hurt feelings, or anything else that happens after you press "Order".
We may update these terms whenever we like, without notice, because that's
also covered by these terms.
We are not responsible for acts of God, war, flood, fire, pandemic, or
us simply not getting round to it. All of the above are treated
identically under this agreement.
This page is provided for entertainment and general orientation purposes and is, in
keeping with the rest of the site, best effort.
This printout is, like everything else here, best effort. We take no responsibility
for what your printer does with it.
